Airfree Mail adds S/MIME support, enabling certificate-based end-to-end encryption and digital signing for government and enterprise workflows with strict classification requirements.
Airfree Mail today added support for S/MIME, enabling certificate-based end-to-end encryption and digital signatures. The capability is aimed at government and enterprise customers whose workflows require messages to be encrypted and signed to a recognised certificate standard.
Certificate-based encryption and signing
With S/MIME enabled, users encrypt messages to recipients’ certificates and sign outgoing mail so recipients can verify both sender identity and message integrity. Administrators can enrol certificates from their organisation’s certificate authority and manage trust centrally.

Alongside zero-knowledge storage
S/MIME complements Airfree Mail’s existing zero-knowledge architecture, in which mailboxes are encrypted at rest with keys the provider never holds in the clear. Together they give classified workflows both message-level and storage-level protection on sovereign infrastructure.
Availability
S/MIME is available now for Airfree Mail Business and Government plans. Administrators can enable it from the security settings in the Airfree Mail console; configuration guidance is in the Airfree Mail help centre.
