Updating WHOIS contact information

Change the registrant, admin, or technical contact details attached to your domain.

The contact details on a domain must be accurate — registries require it, and a valid registrant email is what lets you approve transfers and recover access. You can update them any time from the dashboard.

How to update

  • Open the domain and go to Contacts.
  • Edit the registrant, administrative, or technical contact as needed.
  • Save — with WHOIS privacy on, the public record still shows the proxy details.

Registrant email changes

For most gTLDs, changing the registrant name or email triggers a verification step and a short transfer lock, as required by ICANN policy. This is normal and protects you against unauthorised changes.

Keep the registrant email current even behind WHOIS privacy — it is where ownership and transfer approvals are sent.
