What gets migrated
Emails
All messages, including sent items and drafts, preserving metadata (date, sender, read status).
Folders
Folder hierarchy is recreated in your new mailbox, including nested sub-folders.
Contacts
Contacts from Google Contacts or CardDAV are imported to Airfree Contacts.
Calendar events
iCalendar (ICS) events are imported from Google Calendar and Exchange.
Process
Migration in six steps
Create your mailboxes
Set up mailboxes in your Airfree Clouds control panel. You can import a CSV list of addresses if you have many users.
Run the migration wizard
In the control panel, open Migration > New migration, select your source, and authorise access. The wizard supports Google OAuth and plain IMAP credentials.
Initial sync (background)
We begin copying mail in the background. For large mailboxes this can take hours. You can monitor progress in real time.
Update MX records
Once the initial sync is complete, update your domain's MX records to point to Airfree Mail. New email starts arriving immediately.
Delta sync
Any mail that arrived at the old server between the initial sync and the MX change is copied over in a final delta sync.
Decommission old mailboxes
After 7–14 days of stable operation, remove the old mail server and migration credentials.

FAQ
Migration questions
Will there be any downtime?
No. The migration runs in parallel with your existing mail service. You update MX records only once the initial sync is complete, so there is no gap in mail delivery.
Are attachments migrated?
Yes. All email content — including attachments up to 50 MB per message — is migrated in full. Attachments larger than 50 MB are skipped and noted in the migration report.
Is the migration free?
Migration is included free with any Airfree Mail or Workspace Pro plan. There is no separate migration fee.
Can I migrate a large organisation (500+ users)?
Yes. For enterprises with 500+ mailboxes, contact our team for a dedicated migration plan with a project manager and priority support.
What happens if the migration fails for some messages?
A migration report details any messages that could not be transferred, along with the reason. You can retry specific mailboxes without starting the full migration again.
